Excerpt:
I’m not convinced Jaylen Brown can pull off what Jayson Tatum does night after night. Tatum brings consistency, deep shooting, and pure hustle — something Brown hasn’t proven he can match, especially against a physical team like the Knicks.

Post by Adam:
Alright, let’s get real for a second — this game tonight has me on edge. With Jayson Tatum out, the Celtics are in a dangerous position. People underestimate just how much Tatum does for this team. It’s not just about points — it’s his leadership, his ability to stretch the floor, and the way he keeps defenses guessing. The man’s a three-point machine, and when he drives to the basket, you can feel the energy shift in the whole arena. That kind of impact isn’t something you just replace overnight.

Now they’re saying Jaylen Brown has to take on that role — basically do everything Tatum does. And honestly? I’m not sure he’s ready for that. Don’t get me wrong, Brown is a beast in his own right. He’s explosive, athletic, and can get hot at any moment. But the difference between being the number two guy and being the guy is massive. When defenses are focused on Tatum, Brown thrives because he gets more freedom to move, cut, and shoot. Without Tatum, the defense is going to be glued to him all night. The Knicks aren’t dumb — they’ll double him, force turnovers, and push him to take bad shots.

The Celtics’ offense just doesn’t flow the same without Tatum out there spacing the floor. That man demands attention beyond the arc, and it opens everything up for the rest of the team. Without him, you’ve got a lot of mid-range attempts and forced plays at the rim. Brown’s handle can get shaky under pressure, and against a defensive squad like the Knicks — who love to clog the paint and bully players inside — that’s not a good sign.

This game could go downhill fast if Brown doesn’t have help. Al Horford will have to step up big time, and Derrick White might have to carry more of the scoring load. But even with all that, the rhythm and chemistry just won’t be the same. Tatum is that spark — the one who gets the team out of a slump, the one who can hit that clutch three when everything’s on the line. Without that, the Celtics might look lost.

I really hope I’m wrong, but something tells me the Knicks are about to take full advantage of this situation. They play rough, they rebound hard, and they’ve been waiting for a night like this to make a statement. If Brown doesn’t find that next gear — not just in scoring but in leadership — this could be a long, painful night for Boston fans.
