There are seasons in life when everything looks like it is lining up perfectly, and you truly believe God is taking you one way, only to realize later that He was using that very process to take you somewhere completely different. That can be hard to understand when you are in the middle of it. It can feel confusing, painful, and even disappointing. But sometimes God will allow a door to open just enough to get you moving, not because that door is your final destination, but because movement itself is part of His plan.

There was a house I thought I was going to get. In my heart, I believed God was allowing it. Everything seemed right. We met with the people, the process looked good, and it felt like everything was coming together the way it was supposed to. We were looking at homes, planning to move to another state, preparing to sell our home, and expecting a fresh start. It seemed beautiful in the beginning. It felt like confirmation. It felt like hope. But what I came to understand is that God had something deeper in mind.

Yes, He allowed us to look. Yes, He allowed things to move forward to a certain point. Yes, He even put it in my spirit to go see certain people and work with certain individuals at the start. But somewhere along the road, things changed. The same people who seemed to be part of the beginning were no longer part of the next step. The situation shifted. What looked like the plan started falling apart. And when everything began to unravel, it would have been easy to say, “God, what happened? Did I miss You? Did I hear You wrong?”

But no. I believe now that I did not hear Him wrong. I just did not understand the full picture.

The Bible says in Isaiah 55:8-9, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Sometimes we think we understand what God is doing because we see one part of the path, but God sees the whole road. What looks like a failed plan to us may actually be divine redirection.

What I realized is that God used the hope of moving into a new home to get us out of a place of comfort and into a place of purpose. We already had a home in North Carolina. In truth, we did not truly need another house. We just thought that was the next blessing. But God already had provision prepared. He already had a place. He already had another direction. What we thought was the destination was actually the tool He used to move us.

That is how God often works. He will inspire you with something that gives you hope, something that stirs your faith, something that makes you willing to move when otherwise you may have stayed stuck. He knows how to get us out of places we have become too comfortable in. He knows how to shift us when we would not shift on our own.

Sometimes that process is not gentle. Sometimes it comes with trials, conflict, disappointments, and warfare. Sometimes everything starts going wrong at once. In our case, there were family disagreements, arguments, stress, and spiritual attacks. I was fasting. I was praying. And still it felt like everything was hitting at once. That is often when the enemy steps in and starts whispering, “You made a mistake. God didn’t tell you that. You got it wrong. Look at all this confusion.” But the enemy is a liar.

John 10:10 says, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” The enemy wants to steal your peace, kill your hope, and destroy your confidence in God. He wants to make you regret obedience. He wants to make you question every step you took in faith. But God is not defeated by the chaos that shows up on the journey. In fact, He is still working through it.

The Word tells us in Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Notice it says all things. Not just the easy parts. Not just the parts we understand. Not just the parts that feel good. All things. The disappointments. The delays. The reroutes. The warfare. The tears. The confusion. God knows how to make every bit of it serve His purpose.

I also thought about Proverbs 16:9: “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.” We may make plans. We may think we know what is next. But God directs the steps. And if He allows you to go part of the way in one direction, it does not mean He changed His mind. It may mean He was using that path to bring you exactly where you were supposed to be.

Now I can see that where our feet landed is where we were meant to be. We are in the home He had prepared. We are fixing it up. We are building. We are moving forward. And though the journey did not look the way I thought it would, God still proved faithful.

So to anyone in a confusing season, do not doubt the process just because it got hard. Do not assume God lied because the journey became messy. Sometimes the very thing that looks like it fell apart was only the hand of God repositioning you. Wherever your feet have landed, ask God what the assignment is there. There is a reason. There is purpose. There is something to learn, something to build, and someone to reach.

God knows how to move you, even if He has to move you through a process you do not fully understand. Trust Him anyway. He made you for this moment. If you want, I can also turn this into a more emotional, testimony-style version for your forum with a stronger opening hook and a closing encouragement.
