People can get mad at me for saying this, but one thing people need to understand is this: Coca-Cola and a lot of these soft drink companies are going down the drain ever since the government started cutting food stamps. And yes, food stamps played a way bigger role than people want to admit.
A lot of people who were buying the junk food, sodas, snacks, frozen foods, and all this extra stuff were low-income families using EBT benefits. Thatโs just reality. Folks can sit online and act offended all they want, but stores knew it, companies knew it, and the government knew it too. Those sales mattered.
Now all of a sudden people are wondering why prices keep rising and why these companies keep pushing bigger promotions and smaller bottles. Because sales are changing. People donโt have the same money flowing in anymore, especially for non-essential stuff like soft drinks. When people are struggling to survive, the first thing they cut back on is soda and junk food.
I honestly think Coca-Cola and a lot of these snack companies are going to start feeling it harder over the next few years. The reports are eventually going to show that these sales are slowing down because the customer base that used to constantly buy this stuff canโt afford it the same way anymore.
And before people jump in saying โthatโs not true,โ go sit in a grocery store parking lot and watch what people buy now compared to years ago. Everything changed. Inflation changed everything. Food stamp cuts changed everything.
Iโm not even trying to argue politics here. Iโm just saying people underestimate how much low-income communities kept a lot of these companies making billions.
