A heated argument between a man and woman, both expressing strong opinions, with animated speech bubbles and a comic book style background highlighting their emotions. The words 'OPINIONATED' are prominently displayed.

I honestly believe Josh Hokit did this terrible act because he wanted attention. That’s what it looks like to me. In today’s world, it seems like some people will say or do almost anything if it means getting their name in the headlines for a few days. The problem is that attention isn’t always good attention.

What concerns me is that people often don’t think about the long-term consequences of their actions. Something that might get a few laughs, clicks, views, or supporters today can end up following you for the rest of your life. The internet never forgets, and public behavior has a way of becoming part of your reputation whether you like it or not.

Being mean does not make you a celebrity. Being disrespectful does not make you influential. Creating controversy just to get people talking is not the same thing as earning respect. Somewhere along the way, society started confusing attention with success, and I think that’s a huge mistake.

People need to wake up and start using their brains. We should be supporting individuals who inspire others, build people up, and contribute something positive to the conversation. Instead, far too often, the loudest and most controversial voices get rewarded while common sense gets pushed aside.

At the end of the day, character matters. Fame comes and goes, but your actions and the way you treat other people can stay attached to your name forever.

What stood out to me is the point about symbolism. Actions can send messages whether people intend them to or not. That’s why public figures should think carefully about what they say and do because millions of people are watching.

Thank you for saying what a lot of people are thinking. Whether people agree or not, there are many Black Americans who are tired of feeling like their concerns are dismissed or minimized. We should be able to talk about that openly without being attacked for it.

I completely understand where you’re coming from. A lot of people are acting like they don’t see the bigger picture, but many of us do. Sometimes it’s not just about one event—it’s about the message that gets sent and how it makes people feel. That’s why these conversations matter.
