Honestly, if you can’t see what is going on, you have to be living under a rock. I am so sad that we even have to have this discussion. But thanks to places like this forum, we can actually talk about these issues without a filter.
I feel like what happened was a slap in the face to Black people. To me, it showed what some people really think about Black people, even if they don’t say it openly. The whole situation felt symbolic in a way.
When you look at it from that perspective, it sends a message. Here you have Hokit defeating a Black man, someone who many would argue should be standing up for and protecting Black women, and then turning around and attacking a Black woman. Whether people agree with that interpretation or not, that is how it came across to me.
The message it sends is troubling. It creates the feeling that Black voices, Black experiences, and Black women are somehow worth less. That is what makes me sick about the whole thing.
What is even more frustrating is watching people dismiss concerns and act like nothing happened. If we cannot openly discuss how these events make people feel, then we are never going to move forward as a society.
At this point, I just want people to wake up and pay attention. Stop ignoring what is right in front of you. Stop pretending these conversations do not matter.
WAKE UP BLACK PEOPLE!!!!!!
But thanks to places likethis forum we can without any filter. I feel this was a slap in the face to all black people. It showed what white people really think about black people. The whole thing that happened was symbolic in a way. Pointing back to racist Hokit beats a black man…. The one who is suppose to protect black women, and then, he attacks the black woman that sends notice that we are less it makes me sick at this point.
