Miracles Do Happen

In Luke chapter 1, we are reminded that miracles are not just stories of the past, but promises for today. Zechariah and Elizabeth were righteous before God, yet they lived with the pain of barrenness. They were advanced in years, and by all human standards, the hope of holding a child had long faded away. But then, God stepped in. An angel appeared to Zechariah with a message that seemed impossible—his wife Elizabeth would give birth to a son, John, who would prepare the way for the Lord.

This was no ordinary birth. It was a miracle, proof that when God speaks, nothing is too hard for Him. Elizabeth’s womb, once considered closed forever, was opened by the hand of God. Their sorrow turned into joy, and their shame into testimony.

Reflection Story:
I once knew a woman who longed to be a mother for over a decade. Every test, every doctor’s visit, every prayer seemed to end in disappointment. Her faith wavered, but she held on to the belief that God still saw her. One day, completely unexpectedly, she received the news that she was pregnant. The doctors had no explanation—it defied medical understanding. Today, that child is a living reminder to her family and community that miracles are not confined to Bible pages.

Devotional Thought:
God specializes in the impossible. Just like Elizabeth, we may face situations where all hope seems lost. But Luke 1 reminds us that His promises override the limitations of human understanding. The same God who opened Elizabeth’s womb is still at work today, ready to perform miracles in our lives—big or small.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for reminding me that You are the God of miracles. Help me to trust Your timing, even when things seem impossible. Strengthen my faith to believe that nothing is beyond Your power. Amen.
