As I sit back and reflect on the state of our country, one thought keeps pressing on my spirit: God has a way of showing us the truth, even when we’re reluctant to see it. For years, we’ve been fighting one another about race—saying that Black lives matter more, pointing out that Hispanics don’t get fair treatment, or arguing that Caucasians are inherently racist. These conversations aren’t meaningless, but the longer we focus only on the divisions, the more we miss the bigger picture. God has been showing us, through Scripture and through everyday life, that the issue isn’t skin color at all—it’s the heart of mankind.

The Bible reminds us, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, that we are called to be responsible with one another. That means caring, loving, and uplifting, regardless of race or ethnicity. Jesus never told us to prioritize one group over another. Instead, He taught us that “man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). If God Himself sees past skin color, why can’t we? The heart of a man determines what is wrong in this country, and the heart of a man determines what is right.

Now, I recognize this is a debatable topic, and I’m not here to silence anyone. This is a space for open dialogue, for friendly debate. My hope is that people will respond not with hostility, but with thoughtful perspectives about what’s really going on with racism in America.

But let’s be honest—something strange happens when the person who dies doesn’t fit the political or cultural narrative. For example, take the recent outcry surrounding Charlie Kirk. His death suddenly made gun violence a central talking point for many, but where was that same energy when Black men and women were being gunned down daily in our cities? Where was the compassion when Hispanic families were mourning loved ones lost to violence? Why did it take a political figure for some to realize the weight of the crisis we’ve all been screaming about for years?

What happened to Charlie should have never taken place. It was inhumane, heartbreaking, and absolutely wrong. I don’t condone it in any way—violence like that is one of the most terrible things a person could ever do to another human being. But at the same time, we have to be honest about the facts surrounding this situation. And since this platform is meant for open, debatable conversation, I feel it’s important to bring those facts to the table so we can have a real discussion.

This is where I believe God is speaking loudly in our time. He is showing us that you cannot single out one race and think you can demonize them, exploit them, or ignore their pain while pretending you stand on moral ground. The Bible doesn’t promote racism. It doesn’t give us the right to elevate one people group while trampling over another. What it does show us is that sin—whether in the form of hatred, violence, or pride—corrupts the heart, and that’s what God is calling us to confront.

Gun violence, racism, injustice—all of these are symptoms of a deeper disease: the condition of the human heart. And the painful reality is that too many people are more concerned with politics than with the Lord. We argue endlessly about who’s right, who’s wrong, who’s oppressed, and who’s privileged, yet we fail to fight for what truly matters—the souls of men and women. The kingdom of God is not Democrat or Republican. It’s not Black, White, or Hispanic. It’s eternal, and Christ’s sacrifice was for everyone.

I know some of you reading this may not believe in God, and that’s fine. You’re entitled to your views. But whether you believe in Him or not, the truth remains: life itself is sacred. Every life matters, not just the ones that fit your political preference or cultural background. God created us all in His own likeness. That alone should be enough to make us respect one another and fight against the real enemy—hate.

The hard truth is this: until we stop seeing race as the first line of division and start seeing the condition of the heart as the real issue, we will keep repeating the same cycles of pain and violence. Racism isn’t the only enemy. Pride, bitterness, greed, and apathy are just as destructive.

So yes, this is a call for debate, but it’s also a plea for reflection. How do we move forward as a country when we keep ranking lives by importance instead of remembering that God values them all the same? How do we claim to honor justice if we only cry out when it’s politically convenient? How do we say we love God yet refuse to love the people made in His image?

At the end of the day, if you can’t see that every life matters—because God created every single one of us with purpose—then the problem isn’t in your politics or even your worldview. The problem is in your heart.

And hearts are exactly what God wants to change.
