I’m rewatching Season 9 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and I’m honestly stuck on one thing, how does Shamea still trust Porsha after everything that happened? Like seriously, I’m trying to understand it, but it just doesn’t sit right. We all saw how messy that situation got, especially with what was said about Kandi. But what really bothered me was how Shamea got caught up in it too.

Even if Phaedra was the one pushing the rumor, Porsha didn’t defend her own friend. That’s the part that keeps getting me. If someone is really your friend, you don’t just sit there while people throw their name into something crazy like that. You speak up. You shut it down. And she didn’t.

So now fast forward to newer seasons, and Shamea is still cool with Porsha, still around her, still trusting her—and I’m like… how? Is it loyalty? Is it just years of friendship? Or is it one of those situations where people just let things go to keep peace?

Because for me, that would’ve changed everything. I don’t know if I could move the same after that.

I get exactly what you’re saying, because watching it back hits completely different. But I think with Shamea and Porsha, their history plays a huge role in why things didn’t fall apart completely. They’ve been friends for years before the show, and sometimes real-life friendships don’t break the same way TV friendships do.

Also, I think Shamea understands that Porsha was influenced heavily by Phaedra during that time. That doesn’t excuse what happened, but it might explain why Shamea didn’t take it as a full betrayal. Some people can separate a bad situation from the entire friendship, especially if they feel like the person was misled.

Another thing is personality. Shamea doesn’t come off as someone who holds onto drama for long. She seems more about peace and moving forward than cutting people off. That’s not something everyone agrees with, but it works for her.

At the end of the day, not everyone reacts to betrayal the same way. Some people walk away, and some people choose to rebuild. Shamea clearly chose to rebuild, even if from the outside it feels questionable.

@Ericka 👈 I hear what you’re saying, but at the same time, Porsha definitely has to take responsibility for her own actions. At some point, we can’t keep blaming everything on influence or who she was around. She knew exactly what she was doing. These weren’t small misunderstandings, this was serious stuff that affected people’s lives and reputations.

What bothers me is that she didn’t just repeat something once and realize it was wrong. It kept going. She continued to push things, and that shows there was some level of intention behind it. Whether it was to stay loyal to Phaedra or to stay relevant in the situation, it still doesn’t make it right.

She started a lot of the mess, and she also lied about a lot of things along the way. That’s where it becomes hard to excuse, because at any point she could’ve stepped back and said, “This isn’t okay.” But she didn’t.

So for me, it’s not just about being misled, it’s about choosing to go along with something harmful and not taking accountability until everything blew up.
