I really don’t understand why people are making such a big deal about Vanilla Ice choosing to perform at an event. At the end of the day, people still have bills to pay and families to feed. He’s an old-school rapper, and let’s be honest, the music industry isn’t the same as it was back in the day. Opportunities don’t come around the way they used to.

If someone offers him a chance to perform and make money, why wouldn’t he take it? That’s his job. Whether people agree with the event or not, he still has the right to decide where he wants to perform.

Now, everyone is going to see things differently based on their own experiences and backgrounds. That’s just reality. But I think some people are turning this into a much bigger issue than it needs to be. Sometimes a performance is just a performance, and sometimes a paycheck is just a paycheck.

Not every decision has to be viewed through a political lens. People have a right to support it, disagree with it, or simply move on. But acting shocked that an entertainer accepted a paying gig in today’s economy seems a little over the top to me.
