I’m gonna be real for a minute, because this has been bothering me more than anything lately. How is it that we can have someone sitting in the White House with 34 felony counts, yeah, I’m talking about Donald Trump , and people just… move on? Like it’s normal. Like it’s just another headline that fades away. Folks talk about it for a minute, argue online, then go back to their day like nothing happened. No real pressure, no real demand for accountability, nothing that actually shakes the system.

But then you’ve got Eric Swalwell getting accused of something, and suddenly everybody is loud. Now everybody cares about integrity, now everybody is outraged, now it’s “this is unacceptable.”

And listen, I’m not here defending anybody. If someone did wrong, it needs to be handled. Period. I don’t care what side they’re on. But what happened to consistency?

What happened to “innocent until proven guilty”? Because it feels like that only applies when people want it to apply. One person gets the benefit of the doubt, another person gets dragged through the mud before anything is even proven. That’s not justice — that’s picking sides. And that’s the part that should bother all of us, no matter where you stand politically.

It’s like people aren’t reacting to the situation anymore — they’re reacting to who the person is. If it’s someone they like, they defend. If it’s someone they don’t, they attack. And the facts almost don’t even matter anymore. That’s dangerous. Because if we don’t have one standard for everybody, then what do we really have? Just opinions? Just loyalty? Just noise?

I’m not saying people shouldn’t speak up. I’m saying the energy needs to be the same across the board. Accountability shouldn’t be selective. Fairness shouldn’t depend on your name, your party, or how popular you are. If we’re going to be outraged, be outraged for real. If we’re going to believe in due process, believe in it for everyone. Otherwise, we’re just playing favorites and calling it justice.

I feel what you’re saying, and honestly a lot of people see it but don’t say it out loud like this.

The biggest issue right now is that everything has become tribal. People aren’t looking at situations objectively anymore — they’re looking at who’s involved first. Once they decide whether they like that person or not, the reaction is already set. Facts come second, if they come at all.

And you’re right about the “innocent until proven guilty” part. That used to mean something. Now it feels like a slogan people pull out when it benefits their side. The moment it doesn’t, it’s gone. I also think social media plays a huge role. Outrage spreads faster than facts, and people feel pressure to react immediately without even knowing the full story. So things get amplified unevenly depending on what narrative is trending.

At the end of the day, consistency is what’s missing. If people applied the same standard across the board, conversations would look very different. You don’t have to agree with someone politically to want fairness. That’s supposed to be the baseline. Right now, it doesn’t feel like it is.
