One thing that people really need to understand is that GOD is more concerned about your heart than your performance. A lot of us spend every single week keeping score on ourselves. We sit around feeling guilty because we missed a prayer night, forgot to read our Bible one day, missed church, or didn’t volunteer enough. Meanwhile, GOD is looking deeper than all of that.
People really think Christianity is about checking boxes. “Did I pray enough?” “Did I give enough money?” “Did I serve enough at church?” “Did I bring enough people to Bible study?” But the truth is, you can do ALL of those things and still have an ugly heart.
You can preach and still be hateful.
You can give money and still be prideful.
You can lead a church and still lack compassion.
You can sing worship songs every Sunday and still mistreat people behind closed doors.
That is why GOD looks at the heart first.
1 Samuel 16:7 says:
“For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
That scripture says everything. Humans are impressed by titles, numbers, followers, church positions, and appearances. GOD is not moved by any of that if the heart is corrupt.
Sometimes we are harder on ourselves than GOD is. Some people truly believe GOD is sitting there angry because they forgot to pray one night after being exhausted from life. Meanwhile GOD understands your struggles, your pain, your stress, and your heart posture.
Matthew 22:37 says:
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.”
Notice how it says HEART first.
GOD wants sincerity. He wants kindness. He wants humility. He wants love. He wants forgiveness. He wants people who genuinely care about others instead of pretending to be holy for attention.
Honestly, some of the meanest people sit in church every week while some broken people outside the church have hearts full of compassion and love. That should tell people something.
Stop thinking GOD only values religious activity. He values transformation of the heart. Yes, prayer matters. Yes, giving matters. Yes, serving matters. But none of those things mean anything if your heart is full of bitterness, jealousy, hate, arrogance, and cruelty.
At the end of the day, GOD is not asking you to be perfect. He is asking you to have a heart that is willing to love, grow, repent, and seek Him honestly.
