There have been talks that Leland, North Carolina is supposed to be getting a Publix store. If this happens, this would be very great to have in the community because honestly, I’m getting so sick and tired of waiting for all of my stuff to come from Wilmington. People that live out in smaller areas already know how hard it is just to get basic things without having to drive forever or wait all day for somebody to bring it. When you live so far out, it is so hard to get somebody to come out and bring you the food because normally it takes about maybe five or six hours just for someone to come from Wilmington to bring it to you in East Arcadia. That is absolutely ridiculous when you really sit down and think about it.

A lot of people that live in little towns and country areas are honestly frustrated because it feels like nobody really cares about the people living out here. Everything is always being built in the bigger cities while the smaller communities continue getting overlooked. If you need groceries, certain foods, household items, or even decent delivery service, you almost always have to depend on Wilmington or some other larger area. By the time somebody finally gets to you, half the day is gone already. Sometimes drivers don’t even want to come this far because they feel like it is too much driving for them.

That is why a Publix being built in Leland would honestly help so many people. It would make things more convenient not just for Leland, but for surrounding areas too. People could finally have another decent grocery option closer to them without always feeling like they have to travel so far just to get quality food and service. Publix is known for being clean, organized, and having good customer service, and honestly that is something a lot of these smaller communities could really use right now.

Little areas are really abandoned. A lot of people don’t really care about us out here in the sticks. That may sound harsh to some people, but that is exactly how it feels living out here sometimes. You start realizing how forgotten small towns are when you see how long it takes for businesses, restaurants, grocery stores, and delivery services to finally make their way into the area. Meanwhile, people in larger cities can get almost anything delivered in less than an hour.

Hopefully the talks about Publix coming to Leland are true because a lot of people are tired of feeling left behind. Small towns deserve better too.
