Trustpilot’s Playing Favorites – My Honest Review Got Taken Down!

I am absolutely livid right now. I never thought I’d see the day when a company that claims to stand for “honesty and transparency” would turn out to be just another fake front for favoritism and shady business practices. I’m talking about Trustpilot — the so-called “trusted” review platform that clearly picks and chooses who gets to speak.
Here’s what happened to me. I left an honest review about a business that did me wrong. I wasn’t rude, I wasn’t lying, and I even included proof — screenshots, receipts, the whole nine yards. You know what happened next? My review got removed. Just like that. Poof. Gone. And when I reached out to Trustpilot to ask why, I got the same robotic nonsense response about “violating guidelines.” Violating guidelines? For telling the truth? Please.
The irony of this is just mind-blowing. They call themselves Trustpilot — but they don’t even trust their own users. It’s like they exist to protect businesses, not consumers. And from what I’ve seen lately, it’s always the big brands or companies that pay for upgraded accounts that get the special treatment. Smaller users like us, who are just trying to warn others or share genuine experiences, get silenced the minute our words make a business look bad.
What makes it worse is that Trustpilot has this sneaky system where companies can “flag” reviews and basically get them taken down. Some of these businesses even hire services that specialize in reporting negative reviews just to clean up their profiles. How is that fair? You’re supposed to be the platform that stands up for consumers, not the one helping corporations control the narrative.
I’m beyond frustrated because I spent time writing that review — I wanted to warn people about a bad experience, and I did it respectfully. The fact that they erased my voice says everything about what Trustpilot has become. It’s no longer about truth or helping people make informed decisions — it’s about protecting the image of whoever’s paying them the most.
If Trustpilot can’t handle honesty, they need to stop pretending to be the voice of the consumer. Because right now, they’re acting like the PR team for shady businesses. You can’t call yourself a review platform if you only allow positive reviews to stay up and delete the ones that tell the truth. That’s not trust — that’s manipulation.
I’m done using their site. And to anyone reading this, be careful where you place your trust. If you see all five-star reviews on a business, don’t assume it’s genuine. Behind the scenes, people like me are getting silenced for speaking out. Trustpilot has officially lost my trust — and I’m not afraid to say it loud and clear.
